The Fort Gibson, Okla.-based Port Muskogee is a 450-acre intermodal transportation complex that offers access to airports, interstates, Class I railroads (Union Pacific and BNSF), and a designated Foreign Trade Zone, with navigable, year-round water access to 20 states and globally via the Gulf of Mexico (download fact sheet below).
OmniTRAX in May reported becoming the exclusive operator of the Port’s Port Muskogee Railroad. “This strategic partnership will enhance rail service, support industrial growth, and expand multimodal access for existing and future industry in Muskogee,” OmniTRAX said at that time. “With more than 1,000 acres of developable industrial land and a diverse industrial base—including advanced manufacturing, energy technology, construction materials, and food processing—Muskogee is uniquely positioned for long-term growth.” Additionally, it said, Muskogee has announced more than $4.1 billion in new capital projects over the past 18 months; statewide, Oklahoma’s ports generate more than $500 million in annual economic impact and support more than 5,000 jobs.
The Port expansion, now officially known as Port Muskogee South (download fact sheet below), includes 81 contiguous acres of riverfront property located outside the regulatory floodplain. Zoned for heavy industrial and located 4.9 miles from the Port, Port Muskogee South offers access to rail (BNSF), interstate (Muskogee Turnpike), highway (US 64, US 69, and US 62), and airport (Muskogee-Davis Field Airport and Tulsa International Airport).
“This expansion is about more than land—it’s about unlocking new economic possibilities for Muskogee and eastern Oklahoma,” Port Muskogee Executive Director Kimbra Scott said. “With direct access to Class I rail carriers, Port Muskogee is strategically positioned to support and enhance industrial operations throughout the Muskogee region.”
