ST&T “holds the unique position of being the only crosstie treatment facility owned by a Class I railroad, supplying railroad ties to CPKC’s North American network,” CPKC noted in a recent social media announcement of the safety milestone. The 30-member team has an “unwavering commitment to safety,” according to the railroad, and increased output more than 50%—to 700,000-plus ties in 2024 from 460,000 ties in 2022, when ST&T was a subsidiary of Kansas City Southern, which merged with Canadian Pacific in 2023 to form CPKC, the first single-line, transnational railway connecting Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
“Congratulations to the entire ST&T team on achieving this milestone!” CPKC posted on LinkedIn and X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
