On Jan. 6, 2025, OC Transpo (Ottawa) O-Train Lines 2 and 4 (Trillium Line) began weekday passenger service to Limebank Station and Ottawa International Airport Station, respectively, marking a “major milestone” in the O-Train South Extension project.
Operated with new, 420-passenger Stadler FLIRT DMUs (diesel multiple-units), Line 2 extends south from Bayview Station on Line 1 (Confederation Line) to Limebank Station in Riverside South. Line 2 adds 11 new stations, including service to Carleton University. Thousands of free Park & Ride spaces are available at Greenboro, Leitrim and Bowesville stations. Line 2 platforms are double the previous length.
Line 4, operated with 260-passenger Alstom LINT DMUs, provides a direct link from South Keys Station to Ottawa International Airport’s departures level.
Both extensions are opening in three phases, each of which will last a minimum of two weeks. Weekday service startedJan. 6, expanding in phases to weekends. Bus service operates in parallel. “This approach is based on lessons learned with Line 1,” OC Transpo noted. “It also allows for staff training and gives time for customers to become familiar with the new system.”
