The Eno Center for Transportation (Eno) has added to its Board K. Jane Williams, former acting Federal Transit Administrator (2017-2021) and current Senior Vice President and National Practice Consultant at HNTB Corporation.

Williams is part of the 11-member Board of Directors that provides strategic direction for Eno, a Washington, D.C.-based independent non-profit that was founded in 1921 and conducts research, organizes workshops, and convenes transportation experts on a variety of issues impacting the transportation industry.

The other Board members include Jennifer Aument, CEO, New Terminal One, at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport; Marjorie J. Dickman (Secretary), Chief Government Affairs and Public Policy Officer at BlackBerry; Carolyn Flowers, Managing Principal for InfraStrategies LLC; Nicole Nason, Vice President, Federal Affairs, Commercial Aviation, Sustainability & Corporate Policy at The Boeing Company; Roger Nober, Director, Regulatory Studies Center at George Washington University; Thomas F. Prendergast (Treasurer), Americas Transit Leader for AECOM; Karen J. Rae, Senior Strategic Advisor at STV; Sameer Sharma, Global Thought Leader; Jannet M. Walker-Ford, Business Line Executive, Advisory and Planning for WSP USA; and Diane Woodend Jones (Chair), Chairman of Lea+Elliott, Inc.

Williams has nearly 30 years of experience in federal and state government along with private-sector work in the areas of transportation and infrastructure. In 2024, she joined HNTB, where she advises clients across the nation on developing and delivering complex transportation infrastructure projects. Prior to joining the firm, Williams served as Senior Advisor to U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao and acting Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration from August 2017 to January 2021. Previously, she was Director of the Washington Area Transit office of the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT). In that role, she led and managed investments for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) on behalf of MDOT and helped advise the MDOT secretary on a variety of issues, including policy, budget, safety, and service reliability. During her tenure, she was instrumental, along with her colleagues in the commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia, in establishing the Washington Metrorail Safety Commission, an independent agency that oversees and enforces safety practices on the WMATA system. Williams also served in the Department of Energy and Department of Labor during the Reagan administration, and in the Department of Interior under President George H.W. Bush, and was senior legislative advisor for U.S. Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.).

“I am honored to serve on the Board and look forward to contributing to the vision of Eno as we continue to work to address complex challenges facing the transportation industry,” Williams said. “I’m committed to leveraging my expertise and policy experience to help meet these challenges. Together, we will continue to help shape public debate and equip the industry with the tools and training to deliver solutions.”
