Wabtec
Wabtec on Dec. 19 reported celebrating with Western Railways an agreement renewing locomotive service operations at the Gandhidham Maintenance Shed in Gujarat, India. The renewal is said to build on Wabtec’s working relationship with Indian Railways to “ensure the optimum reliability and performance of the freight locomotive fleet in western India.”
“The Gandhidham Maintenance Shed represents a commitment to excellence, delivering high availability, reliability, and setting new quality standards for locomotive service operations in India,” said Sandeep Selot, Managing Director and Vice President for Wabtec Freight Business, India. “This renewal continues to complement our existing locomotive maintenance operations in Roza in the north and Gooty in the southern part of the country.”
Wabtec Locomotive Private Limited (WLPL), the joint venture with Indian Railways, is contracted to maintain 250 Wabtec locomotives at Gandhidham, for the next three years, the supplier said. The agreement includes regular maintenance, overhauls, material and warehouse management, shed oversight, logistics, and remote diagnostics.
“The proper management of the service shed is critical since the locomotive fleet operates on India’s busiest freight corridor hauling key commodities like coal, cement, foodgrains, fertilizers, iron ore, and containers,” Wabtec said.
Separately, Wabtec on Nov. 12 reported expanding its transit business through the acquisitions of Fanox and Kompozitum.
