OLI on Oct. 17 reported that new leaders will direct its programs in the District of Columbia, Georgia, Louisiana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Vermont, and West Virginia. The seven new State Coordinators, who completed orientation this summer, are tasked with sharing the life-saving rail safety education message across their states, managing local volunteers, and providing customized rail safety education presentations to diverse audiences, including K-12 students, professional truck drivers, new drivers, and first responders, among others.

CDM Smith
Engineering and construction company CDM Smith has hired Jennifer C. Lewis as Transportation Group Director for North America. She will be responsible for leading the sales and delivery teams.
Lewis joins the firm with 30 years of industry experience, spanning transportation, rail transport, water, wastewater, and environmental services. She served previously as Senior Vice President | East PMCM Director of Operations at WSP, where her operational leadership delivered nearly $200 million in net revenue across the eastern United States, according to CDM Smith. Additionally, Lewis has managed or overseen construction contracts and large programs for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey; Amtrak; and state departments of transportation in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi.
Lewis has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Central Florida. She is a member of the Design-Build Institute of America, Women’s Transportation Seminar, American Council of Engineering Companies, Florida Engineering Society, and Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers. She is a graduate of the ACEC/Florida Engineering Leadership Institute.

Separately, CDM Smith was one of several companies to recently sign the Equity in Infrastructure Project pledge.
HNTB
Syrees Gillens Oliver has joined infrastructure firm HNTB as a Public Engagement and Communications Leader. She has more than 25 years of stakeholder engagement, public involvement and state government experience.
Prior to HNTB, Oliver worked for the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), serving most recently as Public Involvement Director. She also held the positions of Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program Manager and Affirmative Action Officer at SCDOT.
Oliver was honored with the 2018 American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials’ Civil Rights Trailblazer Award. She is also a graduate of SCDOT’s 2019 Leadership and Educational Development Program and of the South Carolina Certified Public Manager Program. Oliver earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Benedict College and a Master of Business Management from Webster University.
