People News: Delta Railroad Services, League of Railway Women
Delta Railroad Services
DRS recently announced the appointment of Linda Laurello as CEO following a process led by the company’s Board of Directors. She replaces Larry Laurello, who served more than 40 years with the company and will remain “actively involved with the company’s business development efforts.”
An experienced C-level leader in the company, Laurello spend more than 20 years working at DRS in various project management, field and financial oversight roles. Most recently, she served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
In 2014, Laurello was named “VIP Professional Women of the Year for Leadership in Business” by the National Association of Professional Women. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from John Carroll University and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Northeastern University.
“My vision for the next generation of Delta Railroad Services will focus on innovation, expansion and visibility,” Laurello said. “We will continue with the legacy of excellence in client services that my grandfather, Cosmo Anthony Laurello, started when he founded the company in 1957.
“I look forward to serving as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to thank my family, friends and colleagues, who have played a role in my career journey and the hundreds of loyal and hardworking past and present Delta Railroad Services friends, employees and customers,” added Laurrello.
League of Railway Women
LRW recently announced that it is currently seeking “strategic, forward-thinking, and creative women” from the rail industry to join its Board of Directors.
LRW, which is guided by an all-volunteer board comprised of women across the railway industry, has three open positions for Directors-at-Large, with terms running from January 2025 to December 2027. “This is an incredible opportunity to connect, inspire, and cultivate women leaders in rail,” stated Executive Director Kathryn Keeler.
To be considered for an LRW Board position, nominees must be members in good standing. Candidates may apply by submitting a resume and a letter of interest to LRW Parliamentarian Anne Whaley, copying LRW Vice President Lisa Tackach, no later than Friday, Aug. 30.
After a thorough review, the LRW Nominating Committee will propose a slate of candidates for membership approval in September. The new Board of Directors will be introduced ahead of the organization’s Virtual Annual Meeting in December 2024.
For more details, including descriptions of the board positions, candidates are encouraged to review the LRW bylaws or reach out directly to current board members for insights.
