UTLX, 225 Rail Partner to Serve Customers in the Houston Ship Channel
UTLX will provide railcar cleaning and repair services at 225 Rail’s 1,000-railcar storage terminal in Pasadena, Texas. The UTLX and 225 Rail partnership, the companies say, “represents a significant investment in Houston’s rail infrastructure, enhancing both operational efficiency and regional economic growth.”
225 Rail, whose site is low-freight and centrally located to meet the growing demands of railcar owners and shippers in the region, is served by the Port Terminal Railroad Association (PTRA) with access to Union Pacific (UP), BNSF and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) mainline railroads. UTLX will utilize the Pasadena site for repair, requalification, and cleaning services.
Equipped to handle various railcar types, including tank cars and hopper cars, the repair facility, the companies say, “aims to significantly reduce out-of-service time for car owners and shippers, ensuring improved fleet utilization through fast, reliable service.”
The agreement has created an opportunity to offer existing and new customers a broad range of high-quality railcar services on the Houston Ship Channel. “We are excited to work with 225 Rail to deliver a full range of value-added railcar cleaning, inspection, and maintenance services for our customers,” said Marmon Rail President Repair Services Jay McGill.
“Historically, 225 Rail’s core business has been railcar storage and transloading. This partnership with UTLX will expand our service offering, allowing 225 Rail to provide a one-stop shop for all their rail needs. UTLX’s commitment to safety and customer service has positioned UTLX as a great culture fit and partner for 225 Rail,” said 225 Rail CEO Deborah Willis.
