Association of American Railroads (AAR) subsidiary MxV Rail has opened its new Heavy Duty Maintenance Facility (HDMF) at Pueblo Plex. Described as “a modern, fully equipped HDMF facility,” the HDMF offers indoor space for service of locomotives, components and railcars under protective cover.
“MxV Rail’s team of experts uses the site to advise industry research partners and clients, and there is ample privacy in the new space,” the company says. “Everything—equipment, skills, or insights—is at hand to support the instrumentation, investigation and troubleshooting services required to conduct rail industry research. The HDMF facility also underscores MxV Rail’s commitment to expanding capabilities and advancing rail technology. It was completed on schedule and informed by feedback from industry stakeholders.”
“Here at MxV Rail, we’re a highly skilled team with backgrounds in every facet of the rail industry,” said Jason Samuels, General Manager, Transportation/Mechanical. “With the new HDMF facilities, we’re expanding our capabilities, thinking outside the box, and helping test programs succeed.”
The HDMF team “is proud to be behind the scenes supporting the heavy maintenance required for the world-famous Facility for Accelerated Service Testing (FAST®) program, and this year has been busy problem-solving with engineering teams to drive innovation in de-carbonization technologies,” MxV Rail notes. “The HDMF team is ready to deliver unparalleled service for intensive heavy maintenance work or specialized projects. Our new HDMF adds to our growing capabilities, so our teams are nimble and can perform rail research efficiently and confidently. This is not ordinary maintenance; we question assumptions and develop new technologies here. Combining our growing capabilities with four decades of expertise as the industry’s premier advisory is why MxV Rail remains at the forefront of rail innovation.”
