CP said that its access to the Port of Vancouver and Port of Montreal, plus its link to Port Saint John via New Brunswick Southern Railway, “will enable CP to move the majority of [container vessel operator and logistics provider] CMA CGM’s freight from Canadian ports to key Canadian and U.S. Midwest inland markets.”

The CP-CMA CGM agreement also recognizes “the future growth opportunities connected with CP’s proposed combination with Kansas City Southern,” which is under review by the Surface Transportation Board, CP said.
“CP is proud to provide CMA CGM with safe and reliable service that includes the shortest route miles to key markets,” CP Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer John Brooks said.
In related developments, the government of Canada and the province of New Brunswick on May 25 announced multi-million investments to boost shipping capacity in St. John and McAdam.
