Eco Material Technologies (Eco Material) has opened the Blissville Rail Terminal in Queens, N.Y., to distribute its fly ash and sustainable cementitious materials to the metro area construction market. The terminal is served by Anacostia Rail Holdings’ New York & Atlantic Railway (NYA) and operated by Precision Terminal Logistics, LLC (PTL) in partnership with Eco Material.
Much of the distributed material is said to be sourced from Eco Materials’ landfill harvesting projects including its Danville, Pa., facility, which harvests coal ash from a nearby landfill and processes it to specification-grade product.
“The opening of the Blissville Terminal reinforces Eco Material’s leadership in sustainable innovation and [is] a major step in our efforts to expand access to low-carbon cement alternatives in all major metro areas,” Eco Material CEO Grant Quasha said in an April 29 announcement. “By strengthening our presence in New York, we can better serve future infrastructure projects with innovative materials that reduce reliance on traditional portland cement and imported steel slag. Utilizing rail transportation streamlines delivery and aligns with our mission to advance sustainable solutions for the construction industry.”

NYA serves the metropolitan area consisting of Brooklyn, Queens, and Nassau and Suffolk counties. It operates over tracks of the MTA Long Island Rail Road and connects with Canadian Pacific Kansas City, CSX, Norfolk Southern, New York New Jersey Rail, and Providence & Worcester Railroad.
