The Jones & Co.-produced video was released via social media on Veterans Day, along with G&W’s announcement that it was donating to nonprofit Disabled American Veterans “as another way to say thank you for your service.”
“G&W’s enduring legacy is the sum of contributions from our employees, customers, suppliers and community members, many of whom have proudly served in the U.S. military,” the railroad reported in the special video (watch below). “As part of our 125th anniversary initiative to honor pieces of our heritage via specially painted locomotives, several unique engines have been placed in operation this year across a handful of our railroads to honor the millions of veterans and service members for their courage and sacrifice in keeping us safe.”
Unveiling two of those units were G&W’s Tyler Martin, Roadmaster for the New England Central and Connecticut Southern railroads (U.S. Army, Sergeant); David Nunnery, Mechanical Director at the Bay Line Railroad (U.S. Army, First Sergeant); and Amy Rogers, Customer Service Supervisor for G&W (U.S. Army, Sergeant).
Martin (above) introduced Providence & Worcester 4069, which is operating through Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Nunnery (left) and Rogers (right) introduced the Florida-based Bay Line 4059 (below).
“It’s definitely an honor to be working for this company and to be working for a company that cares for its nation’s veterans,” Martin said in the video. “When you’re a Sergeant in the Army, your main concern when you’re deployed is making sure that every soldier comes home with you. That’s something that G&W holds true to their heart, as well as every day that somebody goes to work. G&W makes sure that we make it home safe to our families at night and they will continue to do that, and it really shows that they care.”
“So grateful for the men and women who have served our country. Thank you!” G&W CEO North America Michael Miller wrote via LinkedIn in response to the company’s Veterans Day post.
