R.J. Corman Railroad Company on Sept. 23 reported a new collaboration with National Cement Company of Alabama, Inc. (NCC of AL) for shipments to Lebanon, Tenn., where the manufacturer has opened a new location.

The inbound shipment originates in Ragland, Ala., at NCC of AL’s cement production facility and interchanges with the 145-mile Nashville & Eastern Line (NERR), one of R.J. Corman’s 19 short lines, via CSX.

According to R.J. Corman, the first railcars arrived at NERR the first week of August, with full-scale operations and testing of all facility systems scheduled to commence this month.

NCC of AL, a Vicat subsidiary, manufactures and markets cement and ready-mix concrete. It has cement production facilities in Alabama and California; cement distribution terminals in the southeast; and more than 60 ready mix batch plants across California, Georgia and Alabama.

“We are thrilled to welcome NCC of AL to the R.J. Corman family,” said Adam Boyles, Senior Director of Commercial Development at R.J. Corman. “This new partnership highlights our commitment to providing reliable and efficient transportation solutions for our customers. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with NCC of AL.”

“We are pleased to partner with R.J. Corman Railroad Company to transport our cement products,” said Jason K. Heathcock, Vice President-Logistics at NCC of AL. “Their commitment to safety and efficiency aligns with our company values, and we are confident in their ability to meet our expanding supply chain needs.”

Separately, R.J. Corman earlier this month reported transitioning its 75,000 square-foot distribution center in Clarksville, Tenn., to a new customer; Railway Age’s 2021 Short Line of the Year, R.J. Corman Railroad Company Memphis Line, is providing service.
