Patriot Rail, a U.S. operator of Class II and III freight railroads, transloading and other rail services, assumed ownership and operations of McClellan Park, Calif.-based Hydra Distribution & Rail Services and Hydra Transport (HYDRA) in 2023. HYDRA provides warehousing, transloading, distribution and logistics services.
The new Salt Lake City facility (see fact sheet above) is located at 5 S. 5011 West and served by the 16-mile Salt Lake Garfield & Western Railway (see maps below), one of the more than 30 small roads spanning Patriot Rail’s 23-state network. It is said to feature 60,000 square feet of indoor storage and 10 acres of outdoor space. SLGW interchanges with BNSF and Union Pacific (UP).
“We are thrilled to grow operations in the Salt Lake City market and are honored to welcome Georgia-Pacific as our first valued customer at this location,” Patriot Rail reported earlier this month via social media. “This expansion reflects our commitment to providing flexible, efficient, and customer-focused logistics solutions across the country.”
Patriot Rail also reported via social media that it is teaming with Rocky Mountain Rail Park “to serve a strong, growing Mountain West market via the Denver, CO metropolitan area” (see fact sheet below).
The facility is preparing to come on line. “Our facility will not only enhance operational efficiency but also provide our clients with seamless logistics solutions tailored to their unique needs,” Rocky Mountain Industrials, Inc., reported via LinkedIn. “With a focus on safety and innovation, we’re dedicated to optimizing the supply chain and delivering exceptional value to our partners. As we gear up for launch, we look forward to collaborating with industry leaders and customers to drive growth and success together. Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this exciting journey!” The company in 2023 announced entering into a definitive agreement with Patriot Rail to provide operational and rail-related services to customers within the new Rocky Mountain Rail Park; the park offers an interchange with UP.
Patriot Rail offers more than 10 rail-accessible transload facilities that shippers can now locate through the Commtrex online marketplace.
It recently partnered with Canadian Pacific Kansas City to establish a new multi-commodity transload facility on CPKC’s Alliance Subdivision in Denton, Tex.
