Gulf Gateway Terminal is doubling its liquid bulk storage capacity at the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) following the addition of a new storage tank, according to New Orleans Public Belt Railroad (NOPB), which connects the facility to all six Class I’s (BNSF, CN, CSX, Canadian Pacific Kansas City, Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific).

The barge-to-rail transloading and storage facility—located on 41.5 industrially zoned acres of Port NOLA-owned property—handles renewable diesel and conventional diesel, as well as additional products depending on customer needs. It can now “significantly increase product storage before it is loaded to railcars and moved to every North American rail destination,” NOPB and Gulf Gateway Terminal (GGT) reported Feb. 17.

“We value our long-standing partnership with Gulf Gateway Terminal as we have worked with them for several years to grow and increase rail volumes through the New Orleans gateway,” said NOPB General Manager Tomeka Watson Bryant,Railway Age 2022 “Women in Rail” and 2021 “20 Under 40” honoree. “This expansion will allow us to better serve our customers and move more freight through the U.S. and into Canada as well as Mexico.”
