Anacostia Rail Holdings (ARH) on July 29 reported appointing Todd Nuelle as Chief Commercial Officer, succeeding Eric Jakubowski, who will retire after more than a decade of service.

Jakubowski is said to have played a key role in strengthening commercial strategy and customer relationships at ARH, which he joined in 2012 and which owns and manages six U.S. railroads operating in seven states on more than 600 miles of track.

Nuelle served most recently at CN as Senior Director of Supply Chain Operations, managing the Great Lakes business unit that includes rail, dock and vessel operations for 90 million tons of product annually. He also oversaw CN automotive logistics operations and 31 transload facilities across North America. According to ARH, Nuelle led multimillion-dollar growth through new terminal development, operational improvements, and customer-focused strategies, while also driving gains in employee engagement, service performance, and brand identity across key sites.

With more than 25 years in the transportation and logistics industry experience, Nuelle has also worked for Hub Group and CSX Intermodal. He holds an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a BA in communications from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

“I’m excited to join Anacostia and help shape the next phase of growth for a company with such a strong reputation for service, innovation and local engagement,” Nuelle said. “This is a pivotal time in freight rail and logistics, and I look forward to working with the team to expand our reach and deliver exceptional value to our customers.”

Earlier this year, ARH named Michael Naatz as its Chief Operating Officer and Mark Nuchurch as Manager of Safety and Compliance.

Separately, ARH Chief Safety and Compliance Officer Herman E. Crosson will be a speaker at the 2025 Railway Age / RT&S Women in Rail conference, to be held Oct. 15-16 at a new, larger venue in Chicagoland. This must-attend event highlights diverse experiences and practical strategies for moving the industry forward. Spanning two days, the Women in Rail conference features dynamic panels (including “Railroading’s Heroes,” during which Crosson and other experts will cover how having a military background helps freight and passenger railroaders succeed in leadership roles and beyond), a celebratory awards luncheon, and the chance to network with a wide-reaching group of like-minded rail professionals.
