ENSCO Rail

ENSCO Rail on Dec. 5 reported providing CPKC with a second hi-rail truck that includes an onboard Track Geometry Measurement System (TGMS) that delivers “high-precision measurements while meeting regulatory compliance requirements.” According to the supplier, TGMS’s “sliding weight” design enables “easy highway travel with the ability to have heavy loaded track testing with 10,000-pound vertical wheel load.” This lowers the overall weight and size of the high-rail truck, ENSCO Rail noted, making it easier to survey around the CPKC network. Additionally, TGMS collects track geometry data close to the wheel.

ENSCO Rail’s partnership with CPKC “reflects our shared commitment to innovation and excellence in rail operations,” said Alex Seredich, the supplier’s Division Manager. “The high-quality data provided by this truck helps CPKC monitor and enhance track performance across their network.”

Separately, mining railroad VALE EFVM (Estrada de Ferro Vitória a Minas) in Brazil recently equipped one of its locomotives with ENSCO Rail’s Autonomous Track Geometry Measurement System.

Naples, Fla.-based Trainyard Tech, LLC will install its Routemaster™ entrance/exit (NX) control system at CN’s MacMillan Yard in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The system is built on the same platform as CLASSMASTER™ and runs on the latest Microsoft Windows platform, according to the supplier.

“The Routemaster™ upgrade will be a multi-phase project that will incorporate the routing control for the north and south ends of the ‘Mac’ hump yard,” Trainyard Tech, LLC reported Dec. 11. “With the completion of the project, the system will facilitate track additions for a new transloading facility on the north side of MacMillan Yard.”

This second installation of Routemaster™ for CN, “provides our customer with a full complement of hardware and software upgrades, including performance statistics and routing analysis,” Trainyard Tech President John Aliberti said.
