Norfolk Southern (NS) recently announced that a new wave of its rail-served industrial development properties has received national recognition for site readiness. Administered by the Site Selectors Guide, the REDI (Readiness Evaluation and Designation Initiative) Sites program “provides a rigorous, standardized evaluation process for site readiness across the U.S.”

Three NS-served industrial development sites have already been certified by the Site Selectors Guild, bringing the Class I’s total number of REDI Sites to 12. More information on the company’s portfolio of more than 700 rail-served industrial development sites is available here.

“These designations underscore Norfolk Southern’s dedication to making site selection easier for companies that can benefit from integrated rail solutions,” said Craig Hudson, Group Vice President of Industrial Development at Norfolk Southern. “Smart site development helps companies grow—and helps communities thrive. That’s the power of rail in the right place.”

Launched in 2024, the REDI Sites program standardizes an assessment process that has historically varied across municipalities and states. It provides site selection consultants with fast access to project-ready sites through an exclusive nationwide database. The program evaluates factors, such as infrastructure capacity, ease of development, ownership, and entitlements. Sites receive one of five designations based on the program criteria: platinum, gold, silver, bronze, or emerging.
