Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) on Sept. 17 reported Arturo Gutiérrez Hernández’s appointment to its Board of Directors. He is CEO of Arca Continental, the second largest Coca-Cola bottler in Latin America with operations in Mexico, the United States, Peru, Ecuador, and Argentina.
Gutiérrez will join the Board on Nov. 1. He started working for Arca Continental in 2001, holding several executive positions, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Head of the Mexico Beverages Division, Executive Vice President of Human Resources, Director of Corporate Planning, and General Counsel. In these roles, Gutiérrez oversaw the merger between Embotelladoras Arca and Grupo Continental and led the U.S. integration of Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, making Arca Continental the first Latin-American bottler to operate in the U.S., according to CPKC. He became CEO of the company in January 2019.
Gutiérrez also serves on the Boards of several industry-related companies, including Jugos del Valle and Grupo Piasa, and is a member of the Boards of KKR & Co., a leading global investment firm, and The Coca-Cola Foundation Mexico. He earned a law degree from the Escuela Libre de Derecho and a master’s degree in law from Harvard University as a Fulbright/García Robles Scholar.
“The addition of Arturo adds to the extensive, diverse experience of our Board, bringing a seasoned chief executive who has spent decades living and working in Mexico,” CPKC Board Chair Isabelle Courville said. “Arturo has a rich leadership and management background and will be an excellent addition to the Board. We are delighted to welcome Arturo and look forward to his contributions, enriching our board’s geographic diversity and fostering our culture of learning and accountability. Our growing railway will benefit from Arturo’s experience which will be integral to our continued success in Mexico and across North America.”
