Northside Elevator Inc. is building a $20 million fertilizer facility in Stanley, Wis., to be served by CN. Launch is expected in March 2023.

The new facility will include a tower system fertilizer manufacturing plant, rail spur, warehousing for the storage of fertilizer and seed, and office space.

Coupled with existing facilities in Loyal, Wis., it “will provide greater efficiency in distribution of products with reduced travel time for application equipment,” according to Northside Elevator, which anticipates hiring eight to 10 employees initially.

The company bought 74 acres of land for the facility, which includes access to CN, according to an Oct. 24 report by The Leader-Telegram.

“We were looking for a rail line where we could get a better rate than a trucking rate,” Northside Elevator Director of Operations Dean Schiller told the Eau Claire, Wis.-based newspaper. “We looked at this as a good spot to expand our fertilizer operation. This will help improve our efficiencies and help us better serve our customers in that area.” Schiller said construction started in June 2022 and should wrap up in March 2023.
