Dispatchers Vic Lewis and Rick Moran have earned the first CSX Public Safety Coordination Center (PSCC) awards, CSX reported June 11. The new quarterly award program is said to honor dispatchers “who excel in ensuring public safety,” and to underscore CSX’s “commitment to a SAFE CSX culture and its dedication to protecting the communities along its rail network.”

The PSCC serves as the public’s primary point of contact for safety concerns and incidents across CSX’s rail network. It helps coordinate emergency responses, monitors potential risks on the tracks, and facilitates rapid communication during incidents.

Lewis, Dispatcher for the Florence Division, was recognized for his “consistent communication and meticulous attention to slow orders,” CSX reported. “His efforts have been instrumental in ensuring safety and enhancing transparency across the network, directly supporting the company’s focus on risk reduction.”

Moran, Dispatcher for the Albany Division, earned recognition for his “proactive approach to communicating blocked crossing information,” according to CSX. His “foresight and quick communication” enabled the PSCC to respond more efficiently and improve its ability to support communities effectively, the railroad noted.

“Vic and Rick’s recognition highlights the vital contributions dispatchers make daily,” said Dr. Chistopher Bennett, CSX’s Director of Public Safety. “By maintaining clear communication and quick decision-making under pressure, these individuals demonstrate how teamwork, a relentless focus on risk reduction, and dedication to continual improvement directly impact public safety.”

“Our railroaders at Alyth Car Shop believe in a strong safety culture built on experience, mentorship and always looking out for one another,” CPKC reported via social media on June 13. “They live it every shift, every car, every task.”

According to the Class I railroad, the team recently marked one year FRA-injury free.

“We all come from different backgrounds, but we share one goal—getting home safe every day,” noted Samuel O’Reilly-Towle, CPKC Senior Manager Mechanical.

“Well done, Alyth!” CPKC said in its social media posts.
