“We are proud to receive the Contenedor de Plata (Silver Container) award at the XXVI Intermodal Congress 2025, hosted by the Asociación Mexicana del Transporte Intermodal (AMTI),” CN reported via social media on June 1. The award, it said, recognized “the innovation and sustainability of Falcon Premium, our intermodal solution developed with Union Pacific Railroad and Grupo México Transportes (GMXT). By shifting freight from trucks to rail, we’re reducing emissions and congestion, driving a cleaner, smarter North American supply chain. Thank you to our CN teams supply chain and partners for making this possible!”
The three railroad companies introduced Mexico-U.S.-Canada “Falcon Premium” interline intermodal service for automotive parts, food, FAK (freight all kinds), home appliances, and temperature-controlled products in spring 2023.
Falcon Premium connects all CN origin points within Canada, and at Detroit, to UP at two locations via CN’s former Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Chicago bypass, then to GMXT Mexican terminals at Monterrey and Silao, through UP’s border crossing at Eagle Pass, Tex. (Piedras Negras, Mexico).
In fall 2023, UP announced that operational changes allowed it to remove a full day of transit time for customers shipping on its Mexico intermodal services, Eagle and Falcon Premium.

Norfolk Crush on May 29 officially celebrated its grand opening, UP reported via social media. This “state-of-the-art” soybean crushing plant near Norfolk, Nebr., has been operational since last fall, crushing more than 3 million bushels of soybeans per month and providing area farmers with expanded market opportunities, according to the Class I railroad.
UP President Beth Whited joined Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen and U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Nebr.) at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new plant, which the railroad said “positions northeast Nebraska as a central hub in the global food and fuel supply chain.”
UP said it is “proud to serve Norfolk Crush,” providing access to its 32,000-mile rail network that spans 23 states.
In related developments, Emirates Global Aluminium recently announced plans to build a new primary aluminum production facility at Tulsa Port of Inola, a UP Focus Site in Oklahoma, and UP now connects to the new Capital Area Rail Terminal in Jefferson City, Mo., a transload facility designed to support regional business and industrial growth.
