BNSF Facilities Achieve On-Time Production, Departure Record

“With Chicago being the nation’s biggest connection point for intermodal volume, our facilities across the metro send and receive freight from across the country and the world. 2023 brought a welcomed surprise domestic peak season, with our Chicago teams rising to the occasion with the capacity we made available to shippers across the complex,” BNSF stated in a LinkedIn post.
This included an all-time record production performance from BNSF’s Corwith Intermodal Terminal, which saw a 25% increase in intermodal traffic from previous months.
“Corwith’s performance, combined with the capacity and performance delivered by our Cicero, Willow Springs and Joliet terminals, enabled BNSF to deliver an all-time record volume month in our truckload segment this past Domestic Peak Season,” BNSF said.
“Big thanks to our customers for trusting us with their freight, and to our Chicago teams for stepping up to the charge,” the Class I railroad added.

Additionally, in 2023, BNSF’s Los Angeles Hobart Intermodal Facility achieved an on-time departure record, which led to the facility’s “most efficient year in a decade,” BNSF stated in a LinkedIn post.
“The West Coast plays a key role in America’s supply chain, and our Los Angeles Hobart Intermodal Facility handles the world’s largest amount of domestic intermodal freight. With high volumes passing through this facility every day, efficiency is essential to our operations,” the Class I railroad said.
“Thank you to all our LA Hobart and Commerce crews for your commitment to safe and efficient service, with capacity for more volume with great service in 2024,” BNSF added.
