Industrial Networks on Aug. 6 announced that its test facility for the SMRTag™ system is up and running at the Texas Deepwater Terminal in Pasadena, Texas.

The SMRTag™ System, Industrial Networks says, “provides real-time, live IoT-based location and asset management, automating railcar inventory like never before. What was once a manual process is now fully automated, delivering unprecedented efficiency and accuracy.”

Also, a key component of the SMRTag™ System is the company’s SMRT Mesh network. This mesh network, Industrial Networks says, “not only allows us to track railcars live in the railyard but also enables communication of other sensor data.”

“Our ability to gather additional pertinent safety and security data from both railcars and the railyard, along with live, precise railcar location information, has allowed us to create what we are calling a Smart Railyard,” the company noted.

“This milestone is a testament to our team’s dedication and hard work, bringing to life this first-of-its-kind railcar location tracking technology,” Industrial Networks stated in a LinkedIn post. “As always, our goal at Industrial Networks is to bring the latest technology to the rail industry. We would also like to thank U.S. Development and Railserve teams, plus Bourque Logistics, our exclusive partner in the rail shipper industry, for your support throughout this process.”
